How to Find and Rewatch Recently Viewed Instagram Reels

Have you ever found a captivating Instagram Reel that you wish to rewatch but discovered that Instagram doesn't offer a straightforward method to revisit recently viewed Reels? Fear not, as there are a few workaround methods that may help you locate these Reels, albeit each comes with certain limitations. Let's explore these alternatives to enhance your understanding:

Check the Reel from Your Feed:

Instagram's Reels feed doesn't refresh until you either close the app or log out of your account. If you haven't done either since watching the Reel you want to rewatch, you can easily locate it in the Reels feed. By tapping on the Reel icon at the bottom and scrolling upwards a few Reels, you may find the desired one.

However, if the Reels you watched earlier aren't visible in the feed, it's likely due to the app refreshing. In such cases, let's explore other available options.

Find the Instagram Reel in Your Interactions History:

If you recall liking or commenting on the Reel, you can navigate to your interactions history. Instagram maintains a record of recent interactions, including likes, comments, tags, and sticker responses. Access "Your Activity" in the settings to explore each interaction type and identify the Reels you engaged with.

If the Reel isn't found in your interactions history, it suggests that you might not have interacted with it during your initial viewing. In such instances, proceed to the next available option.

Find the Instagram Account That Posted the Reel:

If you remember the username of the account that posted the Reel, initiate a search using the magnifying glass icon. Enter the username and check if the account appears in the suggested results. Upon finding the account, navigate to their Reels section to locate the desired Reel.

If the search yields no results, consider checking if you follow that account. Access your list of followed accounts by tapping on the profile icon, selecting "Following," and browsing the list for a familiar name.

Manually Search for the Reel:

If you can recall details such as the caption, music, or tags associated with the Reel, leverage the Instagram search feature. Enter these keywords using the magnifying glass icon and conduct the search. Explore the "Audio" tab for Reels featuring the relevant song or check the "Tags" and "Reels" tabs for content with relevant tags or keywords.

If these methods prove unsuccessful, try brainstorming all the details you remember and conduct a broader search using an internet browser.

Download Your Instagram Account Data:

Instagram provides users with the option to download their account data, which includes information about watched Reels. Although Instagram may take up to 30 days to make this data available, it can be a valuable resource. To request your Instagram account data, visit the Instagram website, go to "Your Activity," and select the "Download Your Information" tab.

By following the on-screen instructions, you can request a download, specifying the date range during which you watched the Reel. Instagram will notify you via email when the data is ready. Once received, download the data and navigate to the "videos_watched" HTML file within the "ads_and_topics" folder to find a list of account names associated with the watched Reels, along with timestamps.

In the quest to never lose your favorite Reels again, consider leaving a comment, liking, saving, or sharing the Reel. These actions ensure the Reel remains easily accessible in your interactions, providing a convenient way to revisit them in the future. Additionally, copying the Reel link or downloading it directly to your device can further enhance accessibility, allowing you to enjoy the content even offline.
