Chinese chipmaker Intellifusion has unveiled its latest innovation: the "DeepEyes" AI processor. Priced at just 1000 yuan (approximately $140), the processor boasts impressive AI performance of 48 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second), challenging the supremacy of GPUs in the market.
Utilizing an older 14nm node and likely an ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit), Intellifusion aims to maintain competitiveness while sidestepping US sanctions. The company's strategy hinges on providing affordable AI hardware solutions to a wide range of consumers.
The first iteration of the "DeepEyes" AI box, set for release in 2024, features the DeepEdge10Max SoC, offering 48 TOPS in int8 training performance. Subsequent models, scheduled for release in 2024 H2 and 2025 H1, promise even greater performance enhancements with the DeepEdge10Pro and DeepEdge10Ultra chips, respectively.
Powered by Intellifusion's custom NNP400T neural networking chip, the "DeepEyes" processor lineup aims to revolutionize the AI hardware landscape. Dr. Chen Ning, chairman of Intellifusion, emphasized the importance of affordable AI solutions, stating, "In the next three years, 80% of companies around the world will use large models... Most companies cannot afford such costs."
By offering cost-effective alternatives with cutting-edge technology, Intellifusion is poised to disrupt the AI market and empower businesses worldwide to leverage the power of artificial intelligence.
