Android 15 Turns Bluetooth Back On Automatically the Next Morning

Starting with Android 15, Google is officially changing how Bluetooth works with a new toggle that will automatically re-enable Bluetooth a day after it is turned off.

Previously, Android 15 was known to change the default behavior of Bluetooth. If users turned it off, Bluetooth would turn back on the next morning. This change is now live by default in Android 15 Beta 2 and applies to both the Quick Settings menu and the normal system settings.

Why the change?

Google hasn't specifically explained the reasoning, but updated language on the Bluetooth page suggests the tweak is being made for the sake of Quick Share and Find My Device.

When Bluetooth is on, your device can communicate with other Bluetooth devices nearby. Features like Quick Share and Find My Device rely on Bluetooth.

Apple has a similar behavior on iOS, though it's not as easy to disable automatic reactivation. On iOS, turning off Bluetooth via Control Center will re-enable the radio a day later, while turning it off through the full Settings menu will not. Google's approach is much more clear-cut in this regard.

However, this isn't based on when you turn Bluetooth off. Google specifically says, only in Quick Settings, that Bluetooth will be turned back on "tomorrow morning." It's unclear, though, what "morning" means in this context.

Implications

While this change may be convenient for some users, it could be frustrating for others who prefer to have more control over their Bluetooth settings. For example, if you often use Bluetooth headphones at night and don't want them to connect automatically in the morning, you'll need to remember to turn Bluetooth off manually each night.

Overall, the automatic Bluetooth re-activation is a minor change, but it's one that users should be aware of.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

  • The automatic Bluetooth re-activation can be disabled in the Settings menu.
  • The change only applies to Android 15 and later.
  • If you're using an older version of Android, you can still manually turn Bluetooth on and off as needed.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
