Deepin, an open-source Linux-based desktop operating system, has just released its latest version, Deepin V23 RC (Release Candidate). This version brings a plethora of new features and bug fixes, making it a significant update for Deepin users.
New Features
Here are some of the highlights of Deepin V23 RC:

Installer: The installer interface has been revamped with a new image carousel and a trial mode to try Deepin without installation. Additionally, native apps have been reverted back to the deb format, and support for 14th Gen Intel processors has been added. Dual kernel options (5.15 and 6.6) are also available.

Launcher: The launcher has undergone a major overhaul. It now features a three-part layout with quick access, along with the ability to freely group and sort applications. Sorting options include alphabetical with letter indexes and categorical with category indexes. The "Frequently Used Software" module displays apps you frequently use, while the "Newly Installed" section helps you discover new apps. The launcher also boasts enhanced Pinyin, English, and Mandarin character search functionality.

Taskbar: The taskbar has been recreated using QML, offering a more modern look and feel. It now includes shortcuts to the clipboard plugin, global search, and workspace view. You can also customize the position of the app area and adjust app activation indicators.

File Manager: The file manager now features shortcuts for quickly deleting files (Ctrl+D) and creating new directories (Ctrl+Shift+N).

Bug Fixes

- Reduced the shutdown wait time from 90 seconds to 30 seconds.

- Options in the taskbar app layout, position, and status menu are not selected and displayed after being clicked again.
- Copying files to the desktop causes two file manager icons to appear in the taskbar.
- When the taskbar is set to always hidden, the animation does not appear as designed when the mouse is summoned.
- The taskbar crashes when right-clicking the system monitor plugin icon.
