OneDrive is a convenient tool for keeping your files synchronized across all your devices. But sometimes, things go wrong. One common issue is the dreaded "Proxy Authentication Error 2606," which can leave you frustrated and unable to access your files.
Disconnect and reconnect: Disconnect from your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, and then reconnect.Switch networks: If possible, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network or using your mobile data connection.
Disable Proxy Settings: Open Settings (Win + I).Navigate to Network & internet > Proxy. Ensure "Use a proxy server" is turned off .Click Save .
Disconnect VPN: If you're using a VPN, temporarily disable it and try connecting to OneDrive again.
Open Command Prompt: Search for "Command Prompt" in the Start menu, right-click, and chooseRun as administrator .Reset IP and Winsock: Execute the following commands, pressing Enter after each one:netsh int ip reset netsh int winsock reset Wait for the commands to complete.
Flush DNS Cache: Run this command to clear the DNS cache:ipconfig /flushdns
Restart your computer: This completes the network protocol reset.
Open Run: Press Win + R.Paste and run: Type the following command and click OK:%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
Wait for the process: You'll see a pop-up indicating that OneDrive is resetting.Confirmation: After successful completion, a notification will appear confirming the reset.
Open Settings: Win + I.Access work or school account: Go toAccounts > Access work or school account .Remove account: Select the account associated with OneDrive and clickRemove .Restart your computer: Reboot your system.Reconnect account: Return to the same settings panel, clickConnect , enter your credentials, and sign in.
