Intel Z890 Motherboard Released Soon

Intel's upcoming Arrow Lake desktop processors and Z890 motherboards are generating buzz with rumors circulating about their release dates and specifications. A recent post on X by Алексей suggests that motherboard vendors will unveil Z890 motherboards on October 10, with Arrow Lake CPU review embargoes lifting on October 24.

These claims align with earlier rumors indicating Intel's plan to unveil the desktop Arrow Lake chips and the new LGA1851 platform this month. The new platform will directly compete with AMD's newly released Ryzen 9000-series CPUs and X870E/X870 chipset motherboards.

Arrow Lake, code-named for Intel's upcoming Core Ultra 200-series desktop processors, is expected to include Ultra 9, Ultra 7, and Ultra 5 SKUs, along with at least three K series models. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K, and Core Ultra 5 245K are rumored to be the first Arrow Lake processors to hit the market, with non-K SKUs likely following in early 2025.

While leaks suggest lower clock speeds and TDP compared to 13th and 14th Gen CPUs, the flagship model's maximum boost clocks are rumored to be below 6 GHz, and the amperage rating for most chips is reportedly lower than their Raptor Lake counterparts.

LGA 1851, the new socket powering Intel's next-generation Arrow Lake chips, boasts 9% more pins than its predecessor, LGA 1700, resulting in a larger footprint. The socket is reported to measure 45 x 37.55mm.

The new platform is expected to be DDR5-exclusive, marking Intel's first DDR5-only platform, mirroring AMD's AM5 platform. The flagship Z890 chipset is rumored to offer enhanced connectivity compared to Z790, featuring native Thunderbolt 4 support, expanded M.2 support with PCIe 5.0 for the primary slot and PCIe 4.0 for the secondary slot, and the complete removal of PCIe 3.0 from the chipset.

The veracity of these Arrow Lake rumors will be confirmed soon, as the launch of Arrow Lake and its accompanying LGA1851 motherboards is slated for the end of the month.
